What We Believe
We believe every person should have access to locally grown, natural meat. We raise cattle, pigs, and chickens for ourselves and want to make it available to those who do not have the resources to raise their own food.
We do not believe in the feedlot model of hormone implants, antibiotics and corn based diet used in standard livestock farming. Feeding animals too much corn is like feeding your children candy bars at every meal.
We do not and have never used chemical herbicides, pesticides, fungicides or fertilizers on our land. These chemicals are not safe for humans, animals, or the environment.
We also believe it is important to create a stress free environment for the animals. All this translates to what we believe is a healthier product for us and our customers.

Meet the Farmers...Meet the Vestergaards
Michael Vestergaard Michael was born in a small town near Randers, Denmark and grew up on a dairy farm. He was educated as a mechanic, then served as a Danish Royal Guard and worked as a ski guide in Italy before earning a bachelor’s degree in agriculture from Ladelund Landbrugsskole. Mike first came to the U.S. as a YMCA camp counselor in 1986 and moved here permanently in 1992. His company, Vestergaard and Sons, Inc. has been building playgrounds all over the country since 1996. Mike began developing the Wagner Road property for his dream farm in 2010 and can’t wait to do it full time. |
Max Vestergaard Max has been a farmer since he was seven, when the family bought their first farm. He has always loved digging holes and building fences. Max graduated from Dexter High School in 2012 and began working for the family business building playgrounds everywhere from Hawaii to Washington, D.C. Although he loves to travel, Max is a homebody at heart. Max is our resident cow charmer and fence expert. |
Carsten Vestergaard Carsten has been a farmer since he was three and is responsible for starting our hog operation. When Carsten was nine, he invested in several piglets and raised them to sell their meat. The next year he decided to raise his own sows to save money and have more control over the product. Every year, Carsten invests his profits into something to improve his business: pig huts, wagons, and tractor attachments, to name a few. Carsten is our expert pig behaviorist. |
